Project 365. Day Fifty-Nine: Let's Go Fly a Kite!

As you probably know (atleast those that live in the greater B/CS), it was a BEAUTIFUL day today. AND, my husband is awesome. What does that mean?

He surprised me with a kite flying date!! Let it be known that I'm 23 and, until today, I'd never flown a kite before.

The assembly...

High flyin'...

I look more like an archer than a kite flyer here...

Celebrating our first successful flight...

Up in the air...

After a long afternoon in the sun...

Reflecting...

Walking across our kite field...

See those cute sandals I'm wearing? They ganged up with the sun and left some really sweet pink splotches on my feet, proof of our fun day :)

Everyday just gets better and better with him. Yup. I.am.lucky!

And, Sweet Pea ? I hope you have a really, really good morning and know that I'll be daydreaming about our awesome kite date (but not during class of course)!

Project 365. Day Fifty-Six: The most exspensive plant I ever bought...

Yesterday was Jason's birthday (yaaay!!!). I ordered him a chest freezer as a surprise and had planned to pick it up on his birthday while he was out of town. About 20 mins before he was expected to come home from work on Tuesday, I came up with a brilliant (that's sarcasm) plan as a horrible attempt at throwing him off. He knew how much money I was spending on his present but, he didn't have a clue as to what it was. So, JUST before he got home on Tuesday, I ran to the grocery store and got some balloons and a plant. I came home, ignoring his phone calls and quickly "decorated" the table and blew up 8 balloons (leaving me light headed in the rush). He came home and I greeted him with my best "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!". I then proceeded to give him his birthday shrub, admitting that I'd blown my entire birthday budget on the plant alone. I'm pretty positive that I didn't even come close to convencing him but, I enjoyed it all anyways :) Then, we played a really fun game of balloon volleyball/"don't let it touch the ground" across our kitchen :)
We ended the pre-birthday evening by staying up until midnight to see if the snow would continue through to Jason's birthday (it did!). Since I knew we wouldn't really see eachother or be able to do anything on his actual birthday because Jason would be in Waco, I woke up at 4am(and accidently woke Jason up, sorry!) and put some lame, homemade decorations/card on the front door for him to be greeted by as he left for work that morning. How terrible exciting for him right ?

All that being said, I found out yesterday afternoon that Jason's freezer is apparently on back order and won't be in for two weeks. Boo. So, in all my groggyness late last night, I put the giant yellow bow I was saving for the actual freezer on top of the receipt for said freezer and gave it to him when he got in from Waco at the wee hours of this morning. Whew! Since you've endured that whole birthday saga, how bout some pictures ?

Project 365. Day Fifty-Five: My nephew gave me a stegosaurus...

Not only did it snow yesterday but, I got a letter in the mail from Jason's 7 year old nephew, Ricky :) I was immediately greeted by colorful stickers and notes on the back of the envelope (I had put a stegosaurus sticker on the back of a letter I'd sent him with a note saying that I loved dinosaurs). Each sticker had a note explaining it's signifigance. "I heard T.Rexes are the king of the dinosaurs" "I like Nasa a lot. This is it's symbol." And my favorite... "I know you like astegosaurus so I gave you one"

I flipped the envelope over before opening it. He'd addressed it to "Mrs. Aunt Katie" :) Um, AH-DORABLE!!...

Then, I opened the letter (which came with my very own bookmark :) ) and the cuteness was just overwhelming. Please read...

Mmmhm. Yesterday was quite good indeed! Oh and I kind of dropped the ball on Youtube Tuesday. So, have Youtube Wednesday (except that this video isn't really from youtube, it's of Kiltie and I playing in the snow yesterday).

Annnd, today's Jason's birthday! Sometimes, I'm struck at the thought of how different and much less wonderful my life would be without Jason. I'm so grateful and happy to be a part of his life! And, I'm so very glad to celebrate his birthday ! ISDLY !!!

Project 365. Day Fifty-Three: Pretty (Pickett) Skies Part Quatro...

I don't really have time to make a full update on Pickett House today (as it usually seems is the case when I want to make an extended update). I just got home and have a little homework and may potentially be getting up quite early to go observe tomorrow so...no time.

But here are some pretty skies we experienced on the drive home from Pickett House..

Pretty Skies part A...

A short while later, Pretty Skies part B...

Off to hustle and bustle!

Project 365. Day Fifty-Two: The Bridge...

Growing up, Jason had a favorite restaurant to eat at on his birthdays. As long as we've been together, he's told me about this place--full of stories, unique characteristics and good food. Until today, I could hardly believe this place existed. Well, after almost 4 years we finally made it to Pickett House (as a pre-birthday extravaganza for Jason). It was really fun and neat to kind of re-live history with Jason and his mom. But, in order to get to Pickett House we had to cross a mile-long bridge covered in creepy fog. Because I don't feel as though I have adequate time to blog as much as I want to about today's events, you're going to have to let this crazy bridge tide you over until tomorrow.

The Bridge as we drive into nothingness...

...I have to go finish studying for a history test...

Project 365. Day Forty-Six: Enjoy...

I JUST got home. So, it's short n' sweet tonight.

I love fall. I LOVE how the trees change color. I LOVE crunching the leaves below my feet. I love it!

But we don't get much of a fall here. Basically, not one at all. So, when I find some leaves I have to enjoy them :)

Over the weekend...
